At 26 weeks, the babies are as tall as an English hothouse cucumber and weigh about 1 2/3 pounds. (Length: 14 inches, head to heel.)The network of nerves in baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both my voice and Chris' as we chat with each other. The babies during 26 weeks pregnant stage resemble a normal baby. The main fetal developments that take place now are that the baby develops good sense of touch and begins responding to touch. The baby’s heart has started pumping blood. The lungs start developing blood vessels. The baby starts making breathing movements. Simultaneously, you can see that the baby replaces the amniotic fluid per hour. Baby’s circulation system becomes totally functional. The umbilical cord grows and thickens as blood is strongly flowing through the body for nurturing the baby. The size of the placenta becomes equivalent to baby’s size. Finger nails and toe nails are growing steadily. The baby has short eyelids and eyebrows at this stage.
