29 Weeks- Almost there!!!

The babies now weigh about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and are a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. By 29 weeks, their brain can control their bodies temperature. Their muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and their heads are growing bigger (yikes!) to make room for that developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, I'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in our baby's hardening skeleton each day. Also this week, the babies will be able to turn their head to find the source of a bright light and her eyes can move in the sockets . Baby is continuing to become more sensitive to sounds, tastes, and smells. For the first time, their head is in proportion with the rest of their bodies!
