June 6, 2011

Chris and I went to WIC (Women, Infants and Children) this morning under the impression that we would re-qualify for their program now that I am pregnant, again. We woke up early, woke the girls up (big mistake) somehow managed to all get breakfast and fashionable outfits together and headed out the door somehow miraculously making it there 5 minutes before our scheduled appointment time. We went through the usual "fill this out...fill that out...blah, blah, blah" before then waiting around another 20 minutes and then being ushered into the back holding room. We were pretty quickly told that we did not qualify for their program. I am now already 20 minutes late for work and have a 30 minute drive ahead of me Figuring we had nothing else to say to each other, I gathered our things and told her we were leaving. There is no other word in the English language more appropriate than "BITCH" for the person who then says to a pregnant woman, sitting in your office with twins "Well, you're not expecting twins again are you? because if you would be then you'd qualify". It is a very good thing the babies and Chris were there or else I would have come across her desk and shown her what two years with twins and another on the way looks like to a woman who has also been doing foster care, full time work and school.

This afternoon I am sitting at my desk praying:

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
And pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones
And allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.
