November 28, 2011

Today was a day of high's and low's...

This morning my mom was so brave and went alone to put down the oldest pet in their household. I remember vividly picking up CJ from the groomers one afternoon in 1994. We didn't go looking for a cat, but CJ and Missy found us. We were actually picking up our dog, Muffin, when we saw the two cutest little black cats in a cage looking for a home. CJ was one of two (the other being our other cat, Missy, who passed a few years ago). The two looked so alone and I begged my mom to take one home. When I'd convinced her, I went further to argue that there was no way we couldn't take both; it would make one so sad to be separated from their sibling. My sweet mother, gave in and made my sister and I so happy with our new additions. CJ was the male and always bigger. He's had a ferocious appetite for treats and massage on my mother's lap. He's brought us so much joy during his 17 years and I know that tonight he is resting in peace. Mom said that the vet told her that all of CJ's organs were failing and that it was indeed "his time". I only wish I could have been there to hold her hand as I did so many years ago when we brought him home for the first time. I know he will be missed but I also know how thankful I am for how much time he gave us.

Later this morning I had an appointment with Dr. Toso and it looks like, unless Baby Boy Ross has other plans, he will be delivered via c-section on Friday (Dec 2) morning. I am both relieved, nervous, anxious and excited all at the same time. A natural birth has been so important to me and yet this time (this final time) it will once again end in surgery. I am so thankful that we had this past weekend to get lots of stuff done around the house and even more thankful that my sister is now with us to support us in this next BIG step. Stay Tuned ;-)
