Our babies are stretching out. From head to bottom, they now measure approximately 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon (or your closed fist) — and weigh about 1 1/2 ounces (each!). They are starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over their body, mostly for warmth. But don't worry, this should dissappear close to birth. Baby's body is growing faster than the head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck resulting in a more proportioned looking baby. The babies can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and even suck their thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, facial muscles are getting a workout as tiny features form one expression after another. Growth is happening on top of the head as well — by 14 weeks, the babies could be sprouting some hair (though the final color may not be determined until birth) and the eyebrows are filling in, too.
